DONCKER, Jacobus ('Ko'), (1874-1917). 'De avonturen van Dr. Mol'. N.d. (=c. 1899?). Charming selection of 16 or. drawings in Indian ink on laid paper, made for the book with the same title which was published in 1900 by S.L. van Looy. Dif. sizes., largest 192 x 126 mm, smallest 38 x 62 mm. All under cardboard passepartouts. (Passepartouts all a bit age-toned/soiled and a bit dam. in places, the drawings in general fine).

Jacobus "Ko" Doncker (Haarlem, 1874-1917) was a well-known Haarlem artist, mainly active as illustrator, writer and shadow player. He became known as the producer of advertising comics and had a huge success with the small comic book 'Piet Pelle op zijn Gazelle'. He also contributed to satirical magazines like 'De Groene Amsterdammer', 'De ware Jacob' and 'Le Rire'.
