PHOTOGRAPHY -- COLLECTION of 25 photographs of Egypt, i.a. Suez Canal. 1880's/90's. 25 captioned albumen prints by the Zangaki Brothers. 216 x 278 mm. (Former mounting marks visible at v°-sides, creases, 4 photos still attached to limp mounts, a bit dam. in places).

Photos of the Suez Canal, street scenes, etc. by the Zangaki Brothers, two brothers of Greek origin, who were active as photographers in Egypt and Algeria, from the 1860's through to the 1890's and who specialized in photographing ancient monuments and scenes of everyday life, producing prints for the tourist trade. They were amongst the first commercial photographers to produce large scale images of Egypt. - Sold w.a.f., not subject to return.
