CASTLES -- ROBIDÉ v.d. AA, C.P.E. Oud-Nederland, in de, uit vroegere dagen, overgeblevene burgen en kasteelen geschetst en afgebeeld. Nijmegen, C.A. Vieweg, 1846. No pagination. W. 72 lithogr. plates after J.F. Christ. Lge-8°. Fine cont. h. mor. w. dec. gilt back, bound by Willem Carbentus.

Tiele 44; Bodel Nijenhuis 312; De Buck 595 (ed. 1841-45). The book contains an armorial binder's ticket of Willem Carbentus, binder to King Willem I and "one of the most important Hague binders of the nineteenth century" (Storm v. Leeuwen, Vorstelijke Boekbanden uit de KB, p. 14). Carbentus was active from 1816 to 1847, so the present binding is one of his last, showing his late ornamental style.
