LEIDEN -- VIEW OF THE MAREPOORT AND MAREPOORTSBRUG, seen from the city side. (Between 1775 and 1800). Watercolour drawing, possibly after a similar drawing by Paulus Constantijn La Fargue (1729-1782) from 1771. 440 x 540 mm. Mounted on a cont. backing sheet and w. a black ink border. (Small restored hole slightly visible, but in good condition).
Nice view on the Marepoort with two barges ('trekschuiten') in the water and 2 brick barge stations. The Marepoortsbrug was built in 1775 and still exists today. The Marepoort was unfortunately demolished in 1864.€ 800
