GOUDA -- BURMAN, P. Poëmatum ll. IV. Leyden, C. v. Hoogeveen, 1774. (28), 502 pp. W. engr. ti-vign. & fold. portr. 4°. Cont. vellum w. raised bands, dec. gilt back, gilt coat of arms of Gouda within 2 gilt fillet borders. (Ties & prize fail, small dam. to spine, slightly browned, but a fine copy).

Petrus Burman (1714-78), the nephew of the elder Burman. In 1736 he became professor of eloquence and history at Franeker. In 1742 he was called to the Athenaeum of Amsterdam, where he continued to teach until near the end of his life. - Sandys II, 455; Spoelder 571 (Gouda 5); Graesse I, 577.
