Amst., 1809. (36), 1036, 26, (48) pp. Fine cont. marbled cf. w. richly dec. gilt back, red label, gilt coat of arms of Haarlem on both sides, surrounded by a gilt dec. bordes. (Back side a bit dam. at the bottom, ties renewed).

Franciscus Sanctius Brocensis (1523-1601) won a high reputation by this celebrated text-book on Latin syntax. Perizonius (1651-1715) produced his annotated edition of the Minerva, while he was still a professor at Franeker (1607). - Sandys II, 159 & 330; Eckstein 492; Brunet V, 118 (on the 1754 and 1761 edition): "Ouvrage estimé, dont la première édition a paru à Salamanque, en 1587." - Copy with school prize awarded by J. v.
