Rare first edition on the principles of surveying. Pierre Busson-Descars (1764-182)] was "Ingénieur des ponts et chaussées Français" for 25 years and wrote after his retirement as he tells in the Preface. The author first explains the general principles of surveying, how to use the instruments to be employed and counter the difficulties that are to be met. He continues to give an overview of the surveying instruments that were used in his profession during his time, including some that were invented by him, or rather improved. - Cf.
