Aëdologie, ou traité du rossignol franc, ou chanteur; contenant la manière de le prendre au filet, de le nourrir facilement en cage, & d'en avoir le Chant pendant toute l'année. Par., Debure, 1751. (2), vii, (3), 156, (4) pp. W. 2 fold. engr. plates. Mod. cf. w. raised bands, dec. gilt back & black label. (Slightly browned).

Interesting account on the taming and domesticizing of nightingales in order to enjoy the pleasure of their song. The author claims that the business of the taming of nightingales was till then shrouded in mystery, because those who knew the method wished to keep it to themselves for selfish reasons. The book also gives the recipe of a specific dough which ensures the singing of the nightingale. - Barbier I, 74; Schwerdt I, 45; Thiébaud 37. Not in Nissen. - From the library of J.P. Fockema Andreae (Auctioncatalogue Van Huffel 1950).
