(VIVALDI, G.L. Opus regale. Paris, Jean Barbier for François Regnault, 10 January 1511). W. 4 beautiful woodcut illustrations and 1 woodcut border. 4°. Old vellum. (Edges/corners a bit worn/dam., ties fail, title-p. lacks, small stamp & names on first leaf, small hole in first lvs., last blank is pasted down, some marg. stains in places, but else a clean copy).

Third edition, and probably the first with metalcut illustrations, dedicated to Marquess of Salluzzo Ludovico II (1438-1504) and his second wife, Marguérite de Foix. With contributions by Bernardino Dardano. The composite woodcuts include images of the Descent from the Cross, the Dance of Death and representations of saints. Giovanni Lodovico Vivaldi, a Domincan monk and professor of theology from Mondovi, in Piedmont, moved to Lombardy as advisor and confessor to the Marquess of Salluzzo Ludovico II. - Renouard, ICP, II, 218.
