The hero of the story, Robert, was the son of the Duke of Normandy and Robert's mother was the daughter of the Duke of Burgundy. But when Robert saw the daughter of the Emperor of Rome he repented and after he had won a victory over the Saracens marching on Rome he married the Emperor's daughter." - Vander Haeghen, Bibl.
