Presentation copy on the occasion of the foundation of the Leiden Student Society 'Exercendo' in 1854, inscribed and dated in gilt on front side. Exercendo was devoted to instilling style and outward eloquence among the student members. Johannes Jelgerhuis (1770-1836), Dutch painter-actor.
